Amazon ($AMZN) and GameStop ($GME) have a lot to be thankful for. Gamers everywhere are celebrating Black Friday by spending big on products from Nintendo ($TYO:7974) and Sony ($SNE). And sometimes Microsoft ($MSFT) Xbox stuff, but not nearly as much as the PlayStation 4 and Switch, which turned out to be the biggest winners of not only November but this entire console generation.
Both the Amazon and Gamestop lists have been edited to remove duplicate listings, A TON of gift cards, toys, controllers, screen protectors, merch, shirts, and other non-game items. We also opted to not include consoles. The below lists represent only items that ranked every day in the month of November.

Pokemon Sword and Shield, which was a heavy favorite to be the best selling game of 2019, was consistently at the top of the charts in October. Just on pre-orders alone, it was threatening to be a holiday juggernaut, and now that it has officially released, there is just no stopping Pokemon.
The most interesting aspect of this month's list is you can see which games are being bundled with consoles or being pushed as the door-busting deal for Black Friday. God of War is a perennial best-seller for the PS4 and might be the first game someone picks up when buying the console for the first time. Breath of the Wild went on sale and was a popular discounted item. That and Smash Bros. and Minecraft are all older titles that would be purchased with a new Switch.

As for GameStop, it seems that not as many parents bring their children into the stores that much, because it's really just Call of Duty and Star Wars. And by far the most popular Switch games to get are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Ring Fit Adventure, which is something we're learning month by month. Smash Ultimate recently became the best selling fighting game of all time, and we expect it to continue to show up whenever we do these articles going forward.
The Amazon and GameStop best-sellers lists are based on sales-rank data reported by both companies every day throughout the month of November 2019. In this case, we looked just at the "Video Games" category, averaged each product's sales rank for the month, and then weighted based on the number of days each product remained a best-seller in the month.
About the Data:
Thinknum tracks companies using the information they post online - jobs, social and web traffic, product sales and app ratings - and creates data sets that measure factors like hiring, revenue and foot traffic. Data sets may not be fully comprehensive (they only account for what is available on the web), but they can be used to gauge performance factors like staffing and sales.
