Once again, Pinterest ($PRIVATE:PINTEREST) has topped the monthly usage charts according to Facebook login data. With an average monthly users rank of 2.6, it took the number-one spot ahead of Candy Crush Saga ($ATVI), which scored a 5.4.
Perhaps the real story here, however, is what appears to be slow-but-sure slipping popularity for both Spotify ($SPOT) and Tinder ($MTCH), two apps that typically own our stop-spots when it comes to user ranks.

Spotify dominated usage ranks from 2016 to 2018, until Tinder — and now Pinterest — took the top spot. Spotify kept its second-most-popular spot until last month when the ubiquitous and addictive Candy Crush Saga grabbed users' attention.
Most notable, however, is Tinder's declining popularity. It's now slipped to spot #5 for the first time with a 12.3 average users rank. This puts it behind Spotify and TripAdvisor with 6.6 and 11.0 ranks, respectively.
Pinterest's popularity surge is good news for the company as it looks to go public in 2019. However, if the above graph tells us anything, it's that app popularity is becoming more chaotic than ever. As always, we'll keep our eyes on the alternative data.
