On Friday, SpaceX ($PRIVATE:SPACEX) employees were told that 10%, or 577, positions would be made redundant at the company's Hawthorne, California headquarters. According to Bloomberg, the cuts include production managers, avionics technicians, machinists, inventory specialists, and propulsion technicians.

But there is some silver lining here for SpaceX, it seems. That's because while layoffs are occurring at the company's headquarters and hiring is slowing down, job openings have been picking up at SpaceX's Redmond facility.

Overall, job listings at SpaceX are down since the summer, with a slight drop this month.

That drop in openings coincides with a decrease in hiring activity at the Hawthorne headquarters.

But at the same time, openings at SpaceX's Redmond and Cape Canaveral facilities have seen a noticeable uptick beginning this fall and into the new year. The large majority of those Redmond positions are in Production.

That all said, Hawthorne not only remains as SpaceX's headquarters, but it's also where most of the company's hiring is done, as the following table illustrates.
