July was a good month for Amazon ($AMZN), Nintendo ($TYO:7974), and Apple ($AAPL), according to sales-rank data collected and averaged from Best Buy product APIs.
The Amazon Fire Stick, Amazon's inexpensive gateway into TV streaming, scored a month-high 13.75 sales rank for almost the entire month, remaining on top-selling lists for 28 days. That puts it back ahead of the Google Chromecast after the Chromecast briefly took the sales lead in July, as we reported.
But the surprise of the month goes to Nintendo. The retro re-issue of the videogame console-maker's NES Classic Edition scored an average 14.42 sales rank, hitting the top ranks for 19 days out of the month. In fact, this is the first time we've seen a game console grace Best Buy's monthly top-sales rank lists.

The Classic NES edition console had been released before, quickly selling out and creating widespread demand for another release. Nintendo gave gamers what they wanted last holiday season, and healthy sales of the device resulted, as can be seen in the Classic NES's sales-rank journey below.
With the device's pre-holiday release, it screamed to the top of Best Buy's sales ranks. That dip you see came when the device sold out. But in July, when Nintendo shipped more units to Best Buy, it jumped right back to the top-selling ranks.
Apple's AirPods wireless earbuds continue to sell well, as does its Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone adapter dongle for those who still want to use classic headpones.
We'll continue to monitor sales of Nintendo's popular reissue while supplies last. Get 'em while you can.
