Uber Eats ($PRIVATE:UBER) is entering an aggressive global-expansion period with the help of virtual restaurants and kitchen space for upstart delivery-only restaurants around the world. Through an alternative-data analysis of job listings via Uber's careers site (along with our daily snapshots over time), we're able to see this expansion happening in real-time.
Uber listed 2,201 individual job opening pages as of March 12, 2019. That's an increase of 66.23% year-to-date and a complete turnaround from a fall job listings crash of 2017, when it was being investigated by the FBI and lost its license to operate in London.
Within that overall increase, titles that contained the key phrase "Uber Eats," which seperates other Uber jobs from this specific sector of the company, only jumped by one or two positions year-to-date. However, this small increase came after a major dropoff in April of last year.
When looking at individual positions on three seperate dates — at the height of hiring last year, a few months after the crash, and today — it becomes clear where Uber Eats is looking to bolster its teams around the globe. On March 13, 2018, there were 21 job openings containing the phrase "Uber Eats." Breaking these jobs down by location text shows the most potential hires were happening in Singapore, San Francisco, and Vietnam.

By August 13, there were only seven job openings with Uber Eats in the title. All of them were in the Netherlands, if not in the U.S.

Then the second, current day, boom happened: on March 12, 2019, there were 22 job openings that contained "Uber Eats" at Uber. These positions were in more international locations than in March of last year, and also in new locales. Places such as Portugal, Hydereabad, India, and especially Seoul, South Korea had positions available at Uber Eats, which may indicate where the company may build and expand their current markets next.

Included within this clip of job openings are two in France, where Uber Eats just rolled out its service to several cities in the French Riviera.
For the curious, here's a more visual look at Uber Eats job locations over time since January 2018, as aggregated by week:
Two notes: some positions did not have location text and were removed from the chart. Furthemore, this is an aggregation, meaning if the same job opening is up for seven days straight, it counted seven times.
As seen here, Uber Eats is constantly shifting its focus to its teams all over the globe. Even though it may have lagged behind competitors such as DoorDash ($PRIVATE:DOORDASH) in recent weeks, it is continuing to grow as it eyes an IPO this year.
